Test: With a combination of Quattroflex and Varioflex technology in one lens, the Alpina S-Way QVM+ offers the best Vario technology in the entire test field. Another great feature is the Fogstop coating, which skilfully prevents fogging. The frame is a bit wobbly due to the flexible material, but can be easily adjusted to individual needs to prevent slipping.
Alpina S-Way QVM+ – glass
Alpina uses the latest technology for the glasses. The combination of Quattroflex and Varioflex in a shield should bring the best functionality. The Quattroflex lens, which is quite light in its initial tint, is well suited for poor light conditions and shadows. By combining it with the Varioflex technology, an attempt is made to automatically adjust to the outside brightness. This works best with the Alpina in the entire test field with the vario lenses, but in bright sunshine the combination of the two technologies is overwhelmed and reaches its limits. Glare and reflections are nevertheless effectively filtered and do not reach the eye. The Fogstop coating on the inside of the lenses prevents the glasses from fogging up.
Alpina S-Way QVM+ – fit
The fit of the S-Way is very comfortable. Adjustable, rubberized nose pads and deformable temple tips allow for optimal adjustment and ensure a proper fit on a wide range of head shapes. The nose pieces and temples are made of solid material and keep the glasses in place. As is so often the case, the frame on the underside restricts the view and field of vision a little, which unfortunately spoils the overall impression of otherwise very good glasses. In addition, the flexibility of the frame is a bit too great in our opinion, which is why the frame can be perceived as wobbly.
Alpina S-Way QVM+ – Packaging & Accessories
The Alpina S-Way QVM+ comes with a small hard case and a microfiber cleaning cloth. You could also dare more with the packaging design and bring a little more color or shape into play, because for €200 you should be able to feel a little joy when unpacking.
