Product news: Radon expands e-bike range with All Mountain Fully Slide Hybrid 140

14 October 2016 by Andrew Waldera

Market: With the Slide Hybrid 2017, H&S Bike Discount's own brand Radon has announced a really hot all-mountain e-bike for the 140 season. Based on the successful concepts of the Slide and ZR Race Hybrid, the bike should have very balanced uphill and downhill characteristics and at the same time offer powerful propulsion. The basic recipe of the Radon Slide Hybrid 140 definitely sounds very promising.

The heart of the new member of the Radon e-bike family is the hydroformed frame with 140 mm of travel at the rear. Geometry and kinematics are designed for a wide range of uses, the rear triangle developed by Bodo Probst should guarantee the rider more riding fun on downhills. A trunnion mount damper with metric installation dimensions is used for the first time at Radon. The latest damper technology allowed the developers more flexibility in frame construction and the realization of an even better response. To compensate for the higher loads in the e-bike and all-mountain sectors, the engineers gave the Radon Slide Hybrid 140 extra reserves and a slightly progressive spring characteristic.

The Rock Shox damper is responsible for taming the 140 mm four-bar linkage rear triangle. Depending on the desired version, this ensures smooth gliding over rough trails in combination with a Rock Shox Sector or FOX Float 34 suspension fork. According to the manufacturer, the moderate reach, the low center of gravity and the very central seating position should give the rider the feeling that he is not sitting on the bike but in it. The slack head angle of 66,2° promises maximum control, the steep seat angle of 73,2° allows the rider maximum pedal pressure.

The Bosch Performance CX mid-engine provides power, which pulls powerfully on the chain with massive torque. Gears are shifted either with Shimano XT or SRAM NX - both groups are 11-speed gears. The new Boost Standard is used on the rear wheel, which guarantees even more lateral stiffness and stability. Thanks to Magura Trail technology with four pistons on the front wheel and two pistons on the rear wheel, the fast projectile should come to a standstill quickly and safely at all times.
