Test: The Airmenius from pump specialist SKS impresses right from the start with its excellent workmanship. Starting with the cork-coated handle, through the matt black exterior, to the large, high-quality pressure gauge - a real feast for fingers and eyes.
When it comes to the pump head, SKS relies on the proven MultiValve head, which can easily handle all types of valves. The head can be operated without much effort and seals reliably. The pumping feel itself is good - the Airmenius has plenty of juice right from the start and the aluminum piston inside slides up and down with ease. You should only be careful not to push the handle to the side - then the air piston tends to tilt and the operating forces increase.
The cork handle is a blessing for battered bikers' hands - it is pleasantly non-slip, not too hard and also makes a high-quality impression. The pressure in the tire can be read at any time from the large pressure gauge in the base. The dial is sensibly divided and the contrast is high. There are slight deductions in the B grade for the base itself. It is made of heavy and stable die-cast aluminum, but it is not very slip-resistant on the top, which led to one or two wobbles in the test.
The pump performance of the Airmenius is also very good, although it does not stand out as much as the excellent workmanship. However, it proves to be a really good all-rounder: both at high pressures and with large-volume tires, it is in the front midfield of floor pumps compared to the competition. The very low operating forces, even at high pressures of over 8 bar, stand out positively.
