ACID Race Floor Digital Pump under test: Ergonomic floor pump with Natural Fit concept and digital pressure gauge

June 28, 2022 by Andrew Waldera

Test ACID Race Floor digital floor pump: If you take a closer look in the official CUBE shop, you will also find products from the ACID brand in the range. The diversified portfolio of the accessory brand includes, among other things, several bicycle pumps. With the ACID Race Floor floor pump, we already tested an analog version a few weeks ago, now we are devoting ourselves to the digital version in detail.

Structure of the ACID Race Floor digital floor pump

In terms of structure, there are no significant differences between the analog and the digital version, apart from the manometer. Two features of the Race Floor digital floor pump are particularly noteworthy: the Quick ON & Off EZ-Head pump head and the Natural Fit Concept pump handle. The EZ-Head for Presta and Schrader valves is designed to ensure quick inflation during races without having to unscrew the pump head. The usual lever for fixing is not required and is therefore missing. The pump handle is also exciting. The design is based on the natural posture when doing push-ups. The forward-facing crank of the handle is intended to ensure optimized power transmission. The remaining key data also match the analogue model: the base and body are made of steel, the maximum air pressure is specified as 160 psi or 11,0 bar.

Commissioning and operation of the digital pressure gauge

The floor pump is delivered ready for use and only needs to be activated for the first time by pulling out a battery separator film. The operation of the digital manometer is extremely simple. The manometer is switched on and off by holding down the power button above the display. With a short click you can switch between bar (2 decimal places) and psi (1 decimal place). Pressing the button activates the backlight at the same time, but it goes out after a few seconds. With or without a backlight, the display is very easy to read. The display also shows the current battery level of the CR 2032. The automatic switch-off after 40 seconds protects the small energy supplier. Armed with a small Phillips screwdriver, it can be changed quickly and easily if necessary. A final fine adjustment of the air pressure allows the easily accessible release valve.

ACID Race Floor digital floor pump: feel and pumping behavior

Despite the comparatively small pump base, the robust design of the pump allows it to work without wobbling. With the Quick ON & Off EZ-Head pump head, the manufacturer does not promise too much. The handling is very uncomplicated: put on the valve, press, done! Even if the handling seems a bit unusual at first, the adjustment phase is very short. However, before using it for the first time, it is advisable to take a look at the enclosed quick manual. The ergonomically shaped handle fits well in the hands and also allows a very comfortable operation. Inflating is efficient, smooth-running and quick, and the stable and high-quality structure also has a positive effect here. The good overall impression of the ACID Race Floor digital floor pump is completed by the long pump hose, which with a length of 123 centimeters enables a large radius of action.
