SKS Airkompressor 10.0 floor pump in the test: Inexpensive pressure maker with large manometer

12 May 2022 by Andrew Waldera

SKS air compressor floor pump in the test

SKS Airkompressor 10.0 floor pump test: For the 2022 season, SKS Germany has directly expanded the existing range with five new floor pumps. With the categories ECO, COMFORT and PRO, the requirements of both hobby cyclists and workshop professionals should be fully met. The ECO floor pumps are located in the entry-level area and, in addition to the proven quality, should convince with a fair price-performance ratio. The new SKS Airkompressor 10.0 had to prove in the test whether this is the case.

Structure of the SKS Airkompressor 10.0 floor pump

The SKS Airkompressor 10.0 floor pump in black and orange is visually unmistakably linked to the brand. In addition to the paint finish, the large plastic base is immediately noticeable. The structured surface is intended to ensure better fixation when pumping. The large analog pressure gauge at the pump base is also unmistakable. The air pressure can be read in both bar and PSI. The cylinder tube is made of metal and allows tires to be inflated with up to 10 bar. The newly designed MV Easy (Multi Valve) valve head consists of glass fiber reinforced plastic and is suitable for all valve types. The "Made in Germany" bicycle pump is rounded off by a plastic handle and an approximately 88 centimeter long pump hose.

function and feel

SKS bicycle pumps have been with us for our entire lives. The good quality and the fair price-performance ratio of the products motivate to buy - and the new SKS Airkompressor 10.0 floor pump is no exception. Inflating is done efficiently and quickly. The plastic foot flexes a bit, but still provides a secure footing. The handle, which is also made of plastic, is comfortable to hold thanks to its ergonomic design. With more intensive use of force, however, the grip becomes unstable. Ergonomics was apparently also the focus of the designers when developing the MV Easy valve head. The ergonomically shaped locking lever allows easy clamping onto the valve. The large pressure gauge is also easy to read. The high-contrast display of the bar numbers allows for very comfortable reading, only the dark-grey PSI numbers require you to use glasses.

The details at a glance

With a few small exceptions, the inexpensive pump does its job unobtrusively. Inflation is quick and easy and with up to 10 bar, most cyclists can enjoy the SKS Airkompressor 10.0 floor pump. The pressure gauge is easy to read and the MV Easy valve head operates all valve types. We would rate the slight flex behavior of the pump foot negatively as well as the instability of the grip when using more force.
