ACID Race Floor Pump under test: Ergonomic floor pump with Natural Fit concept

2 May 2022 by Andrew Waldera

Test ACID Race Floor floor pump: The bicycle manufacturer CUBE offers a wide range of accessories under the ACID label. Like the bikes, the parts of the own brand are also developed in Waldershof, so the requirements in terms of quality, functionality and reliability are correspondingly high. The portfolio includes the ACID Race Floor floor pumps, which are available with an analogue or digital pressure gauge. We tested both pumps, in this article we examine the analogue model.

Structure of the ACID Race Floor floor pump

With the ACID Race Floor floor pump, there are certainly two features that deserve special mention: On the one hand, the Quick ON & Off EZ-Head pump head deserves more attention, on the other hand, we also have to explicitly mention the Natural Fit Concept pump handle. The main purpose of the EZ-Head for Presta and Schrader valves is to ensure fast inflation during races without having to unscrew the pump head. The usual lever for fixing is missing completely. Exciting! The developers of the pump also paid great attention to the handle. The design is based on the natural posture when doing push-ups. The forward-facing cranking of the handle is intended to ensure optimized power transmission. In addition to these two features, the ACID Race Floor floor pump impresses with its robust construction. The base and pump body are made of steel, the maximum air pressure is specified as 160 psi or 11,0 bar. This can be read on the analog pressure gauge attached above.

function and feel

Although the pump foot is comparatively small, the firm stand without flexing behavior is convincing. The hose, on the other hand, is very flexible; the length of 123 centimeters allows a large radius of action when working. With the Quick ON & Off EZ-Head pump head, the manufacturer does not promise too much. The handling is extremely uncomplicated and – in the truest sense of the word – very easy to handle. Put it on, press it, done! However, before using it for the first time, it is advisable to take a look at the enclosed quick manual. The handle is no less convincing. This lies well in the hands and thus allows a very comfortable operation. Inflating is efficient, smooth-running and quick, and the stable and high-quality structure also has a positive effect here. There is also an easily accessible drain valve on the easy-to-read analog pressure gauge for final fine adjustment.
