SKS Airmotion 12.0 floor pump in the test: Powerful bicycle pump with fine features

June 7, 2022 by Andrew Waldera

SKS Airmotion 12.0 floor pump being tested

It is well known that all good things come in threes. After testing the two SKS floor pumps Airkompressor 10.0 and Air-X-Plorer 10.0, we are now turning our attention to the third model, the SKS Airmotion 12.0. This bicycle pump is also one of the innovations with which the accessory brand from Sundern started the 2022 season.

Structure of the SKS Airmotion 12.0 floor pump

The SKS Airmotion 12.0 floor pump is unmistakably part of the SKS family in terms of design and comes in a black/orange look. In contrast to the two SKS floor pumps Airkompressor and Air-X-Plorer, however, the Airmotion comes with an analogue pressure gauge on top. The high-performance model offers plenty of power with a maximum pressure of 12 bar and is therefore also suitable for racing bike tires. Other features include the ergonomically shaped soft-touch handle and the new MV Easy valve head. The lining running along the pump tube not only makes the Airmotion appear more voluminous, but also accommodates part of the 115 centimeter long pump tube. The generously dimensioned metal foot should ensure a stable stand when inflating.

function and feel

A special feature of the 2022 SKS pumps is the new MV Easy valve head made of glass fiber reinforced material. The ergonomically shaped locking lever allows easy clamping onto the valve, and the compatibility of the valve head with all valve types ensures a wide range of applications. The clamp reliably withstands even high pressure. The stable metal base ensures a firm footing when inflated and thus allows wobble-free work. Tires of all types can be efficiently filled in this way, from city bikes to racing bikes. The full pumping feeling is just as convincing as the pleasant grip of the ergonomically shaped soft-touch handle. The easy-to-read bar display on the manometer at the top provides information about the current pump pressure. The dark gray PSI lettering, on the other hand, lacks contrast.
