First Look: Cube Nuride Hybrid EXC Allroad: E-bike step-through with MTB genes

August 14, 2019 by Christian Ettl

Product news: The class of all-round e-bikes with a comfortable frame shape and off-road tires is constantly growing. One can speak of a real trend. We exclusively present the Nuride Hybrid Pro 625 Allroad model year 2020.

The Nuride series serves the growing demand for SUV feeling or MTB feeling with comfortable entry and a comfortable seating position. Like SUVs in cars, such a bike is cooler and more universal than a classic step-through bike without being a real off-roader. It can cover many areas of application and knows few limits. Cube describes the Nuride Hybrid EXC Allroa as a true versatility monster.

You see it again and again: At least since the spread of e-bikes, step-through bikes can be seen everywhere, for example on gravel paths up to huts. Not necessarily optimal, because the classic city category is not designed for this terrain, the tires are often too narrow and the frames are not stiff enough. With the Nuride, however, the descent is also reasonably safe – assuming you have the appropriate ability on the bike. Incidentally, the Cube Nuride was tested according to the MTB standard and passed - quite remarkable for a step-through bike.

That's how it should be: solid brakes and side stand.

The Cube Nuride Hybrid EXC 625 Allroad is one of 3 models. It represents the mid-range of the model series and is, in our opinion, the most interesting of the three. The entry-level model Pro comes with significantly simpler equipment, eg with only 10 gears and a simple suspension fork. The top model SL is very well equipped, you don't necessarily need that much. The Nuride Hybrid EXC (and the Pro) is alternatively available with a small 500Wh battery, which is 200 euros cheaper. The SL is only available with a large battery, 625 WH and fully equipped.

With the Pro and EXC, the bike is also available without equipment, i.e. without mudguards, lights, bell and stand. A luggage rack is never standard, but can be retrofitted. A chainguard or trouser protection ring is always on board, which is now mandatory according to city and trekking standards. And the RockShox Recon air suspension fork, together with the grippy 2.35 inch Schwalbe tires, ensure a smooth ride even on the roughest trails.

You can ride your bike in any weather, thanks to mudguards. If you also use the Nuride Hybrid EXC Allroad for your daily commute to the office or for a leisurely after-work ride, you will be pleased with the mudguards, the lighting system and the side stand.
