Track cycling: At the 54th edition of the Sixdays Bremen, women will start in the Madison discipline for the first time. The two-man team drive, also known as the big hunt, is one of the highlights of the six-day race. The women's Madison takes account of the positive developments in international track cycling.
The Bremen six-day race has been held in the Hanseatic city of Bremen since 1965. For six days, everything revolves around the 166 meter long oval of laths. From 11th to 16th January 2018, the Sixdays Bremen are now in their 54th round - and with a premiere. For the first time, the great hunt "Madison" will also be held in the women's competition. At the Madison, twelve teams, each with two drivers, start a 45-minute hunt for lap wins. Since all 24 cyclists are on the oval at the same time, the spectators can look forward to exciting duels with full physical exertion. The organizers of the Sixdays Bremen want to send a clear signal with the women's Madison. Irrespective of the Madison, the riders will of course continue to compete in the Omnium in the disciplines of derny, scratch, points and eliminations.
