Cycling: At the start of the European Track Cycling Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland, the Federation of German Cyclists can look forward to two gold medals.
Sprinters defend their European title
Just a few months ago, the German sprinters won the gold medal at the European Track Cycling Championships in Munich. Now they have successfully defended their European Championship title in Grenchen. Lea Sophie Friedrich, Pauline Grabosch and Emma Hinze had started as favorites in the final against Great Britain and lived up to their role. Alessa Catriona Pröpster was used in the qualification and also did her job with flying colours. Bronze went to the Dutch women.
They started as favorites and delivered!

Tim Torn Teutenberg becomes Elite European Champion for the first time
The gentlemen of the BDR also had something to celebrate at the start. Tim Torn Teutenberg won the elimination drive and thus the gold medal at a European championship for the first time in his career. In 2019 he already triumphed in the junior class and in 2021 he became vice European champion in the U23. This time silver went to Portuguese Rui Oliveira ahead of Dutchman Philip Heijnen. The men's sprinters were less fortunate. Finishing fourth in Grenchen, the German trio just missed out on a medal.
