Cycling: The first part of the UCI Track Champions League took place on Mallorca on Saturday. Without Emma Hinze, there were no top results for the BDR. Nevertheless, the German professionals were able to place well before the home event in Berlin.
Next Saturday in Berlin
With second place in the Keirin by Stefan Bötticher and third place by Lea Friedrich, the German Cyclists Association can look forward to two podium finishes on Mallorca. At the start of the UCI Champions League, however, the others dominated. Harrie Lavreysen won the keirin and was beaten only by Matt Richardson in the sprint. The Dutchman leads the ranking after the first of five rounds, ahead of the Australian and Stefan Bötticher. In the women's category, a Dutchman is also in the lead. Shanne Braspennincx leads ahead of Ukraine's Olena Starikova. Lea Friedrich is also still promising in the race in third place. The second round will take place in the Berlin Velodrom next Saturday.
