Track cycling: Stefan Bötticher organized the BDR's second medal at the Track Cycling World Championships in Pruszków. The 27-year-old secured bronze in the keirin. Lea Sophie Friedrich is also on course for a medal. The only 19-year-old qualified for the semi-finals in the sprint.
Team pursuit: Australia celebrates world record
As already became apparent yesterday, the finals in the team pursuit had to be held without German-speaking participants. On the second day of the Track Cycling World Championships, the Australians again had every reason to celebrate. The Aussis won ahead of the British in both the women's and men's categories. While the women had an extremely close decision, the men celebrated a new world record with a time of 3:48,012 minutes. The team pursuit ended bitterly for the Canadians. The women finished fourth behind New Zealand and the men behind Denmark. Man of the day was Samuel Welsford. In addition to winning the team pursuit for Australia, the Australian also won the world scratch title. The Swiss Mauro Schmid achieved a respectable seventh place in this competition.

Keirin: Stefan Bötticher gets bronze
Last year, Stefan Bötticher became European champion in the keirin. But it shouldn't be enough for the world title this year. The 27-year-old won bronze today behind Matthijs Büchli from the Netherlands and Yudai Nitta from Japan. In the end, after a strong race, they were just 0,2 seconds short of the title. Bitter, because in the previous semi-final he was still the fastest man on the oval. He also finished the quarterfinals with the best time.
