E-MTB / product news: The e-hardtail Canyon Grand Canyon:ON will be launched in 2021 with a drive upgrade. In addition to the new Shimano EP8, the successful model also gets a larger battery with 630 Wh.
The Canyon Grand Canyon has been a hot tip for an attractively priced all-round hardtail for many years, and exactly what characterizes the non-motorized model, namely an attractive price/performance ratio combined with a wide range of uses, also applies to the E-MTB variant . Presented at the beginning of last year, the aluminum hardtail with a Shimano motor and a slim look offers a technically appealing entry into the high-quality E-MTB world. With 120 mm of travel and a dropper post in the upper configurations, it definitely has the potential to let it rip on moderate trails.
Little will be changed in this recipe for success for 2021 – except for the drive system. So far, the tried and tested Shimano E8000, which is a bit outdated, has provided propulsion, powered by a 504 Wh battery in the slim down tube. From now on there is the clear Shimano EP8 stronger, quieter and lighter successor, which - depending on the frame size and equipment variant - is also powered by a larger 630 Wh battery.

Canyon Grand Canyon:ON models and trim levels
The price of the Canyon Grand Canyon:ON 2021 starts at 2.899 euros and then goes up to 3.599 euros. In the higher quality configurations, the price also depends on the battery capacity, which also depends on the frame size: In the down tube of the two smallest frames, XS and S, there is not enough space for the 630 Wh version and you have to make do with 504 Wh – you save 200 euros on the price.
