Pendix eDrive System 2021: More torque, more functions, more driving pleasure

30 October 2020 by the editorial office

E-Performance: With a torque of up to 65 Nm, the new Pendix eDrive motor is not only stronger, but also smarter. The mechanics and the firmware in the motor have been significantly further developed for this. As a result, Pendix users now have an individually tunable drive system and more driving fun.

Pendix eDrive 2021: New patented technology

By ingeniously adapting the stator design, the Pendix engineers have succeeded in increasing the proportion of active material in the e-machine and thus increasing the maximum torque. The principle has already been patented. As a result, the weight of the engine has increased by only 400 g, the external dimensions remain the same. Thus, the subtle Pendix look is retained. The well-known advantages of the gearless central motor also remain: it is maintenance-free and noiseless. As with the previous eDrive systems, the new Pendix eDrive is also available in the variants 150, 300 and 500.

Pendix eDrive 2021: Extensive update for app and firmware

Along with the new drive, the motor firmware and the Pendix.bike PRO app have received an update. This is accompanied by several improvements, and above all there is now the new function called "driving profiles" in the variants "Efficiency" and "Performance". The Performance driving profile is preset ex works, in which the maximum torque of 65Nm can be used in the Sport level even without using the app. In contrast, with the Efficiency profile, more economical behavior can be set via the app, which leads to a longer range by reducing the maximum torque. Another advantage for the Pendix user is the possibility of setting both the torque and the maximum support speed for all three levels Eco, Smart and Sport within the profiles and thus adapting them individually to their own needs. Always within the legal limits, of course.

Pendix eDrive 2021: The retrofit drive

Christian Hennig, Head of Technology at Pendix, is proud of the new motor: "With the new eDrive, we have fulfilled the wishes of many customers for even more support when driving. Especially customers with cargo bikes or people who travel a lot in mountainous regions will love the new drive.”

The prices remain unchanged and start at €999. The motor can now be purchased from specialist dealers and via the Pendix online shop. The new Pendix eDrive will completely supersede and replace the previous system.
