Advent calendar / raffle: e*thirteen enters the MTB cockpit stage with two stems and three handlebars. All components are based on the latest standards and can be combined from an inexpensive to a noble, lightweight duo.
US manufacturer e*thirteen has made a name for itself with a wide variety of mountain bike components. Wheels, tires, pedals, cranks and even cassettes and dropper posts have been an integral part of the portfolio for several years. Cockpit components have also been in the range for a few months now: you can choose from two stems and three handlebars - they are all aimed more at downhill-oriented bikers - in other words: short stem lengths and 800mm wide handlebars. All e*thirteen cockpit components are also based on the 35mm standard, which has been firmly established for several years, but has not yet completely replaced the existing 31,8mm size, despite clear technical advantages.
e*thirteen – the new stems
The two new stems are called Base and Plus, are both 40mm and 50mm long and only available with a 35mm clamp. The main differences are in the finish and weight. At 145g (40mm), the Plus stem is around 10g lighter than the Base counterpart. In addition, the decals are applied by water transfer printing on the more elegant version.
e*thirteen – the new handlebars
There are three variants of the handlebars to buy. The two aluminum versions were christened Base and Plus in the same way as the stems and differ mainly in terms of finish, weight and price. The e*thirteen Race handlebar, on the other hand, is made of carbon and, unsurprisingly, is by far the lightest model at 225g (20mm rise). All handlebars are available with 20mm and 35mm rise, have a 9° backsweep and 5° upsweep and are 800mm wide.
