Advent Calendar 2019 #23: Ortlieb E-Mate pannier

23 December 2019 by the editorial office

Advent calendar / product news: With the Ortlieb E-Mate, the bag specialist Made-In-Germany is launching a bike bag that is designed to meet the needs of passionate e-bikers. And, of course, the Ortlieb E-Mate, like all bags introduced since it was founded in 1982, is also waterproof.

The color variant Betrog is chic and eye-catching at the same time

Ortlieb E-Mate: Well thought-out concept

It is already known that e-bikers have special requirements for accessories and equipment, but how does this apply to panniers? The e-bike-specific accessories should find their correct place comfortably and securely in the bicycle bags. The spare battery, display and possibly the charger should be stowed away safely and securely.

The spare battery finds a place in a central, separate pocket inside the Ortlieb E-Mate. Care was taken to ensure that it disappears into the pocket without wobbling and with a center of gravity that is as central as possible. In addition, once the bike is parked, there is also a place for the detachable display of the e-bike. Protected from scratches and the rest of the utensils stored in the bag.

Tidy, bright and clear.

The bag remains dimensionally stable and stable thanks to the slight internal reinforcement. The bright interior is also noticeable, which makes it easier to stow away and, above all, to quickly find items of luggage in the 16-litre storage space. Thanks to the innovative magnetic closure, the Ortlieb E-Mate bike bag can be quickly closed again and is waterproof. The volume is comfortably sufficient for day trips or extensive city explorations by e-bike.
