Cycling: Tim Wellens repeated his victory from the previous year at the Mallorca Challenge. The Belgian from Team Lotto Soudal won the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana again. With strong colleagues, Wellens was able to break away from the peloton well before the finish. In the sprint he then defeated Gianni Moscon (Sky).
Five top drivers tear away
won yesterday John Degenkolb the first one-day race of the Mallorca Challenge. The second act was to take the riders 140,1 kilometers from Sóller to Deià. The next winner was sought under the name Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, but today's profile was significantly more wavy than yesterday. So it is not surprising that five well-known drivers were able to break away from the field before the finish and were ultimately able to decide the victory among themselves. Alejandro Valverde (movistar), Gianni moscon (Sky), Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal), Gregor Muehlberger (Bora-hansgrohe) and Gianluca Brambilla (Trek-Segafredo) were several minutes ahead of the peloton and attacked each other several times in the closing stages. Although Gianluca Brambilla was briefly left behind, he was able to catch up just before the finish.

Wellens repeated last year's victory
The last few kilometers of the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana were hard to beat in terms of excitement. Brambilla, who came back, attacked in the same way as his four other colleagues. Since it was already clear that they would reach the finish ahead of the peloton, they were able to fight out their own little race. After another attack, Valverde and Mühlberger were distanced, and later Brambilla as well. So Moscon and Wellens jet together into the last corner. In the end, Tim Wellens proved to be the faster and smarter driver. The Belgian was thus able to repeat his victory from the previous year. Moscon is only second, but the Italian probably has currently due to the call-up UCI Disciplinary Committee anyway bigger problems. Valverde secured third place in front of Brambilla and the Austrian Mühlberger.
