Cycling: Alejandro Valverde won the Trofeo Pollenca – Port d'Andratx at the Mallorca Challenge. The Spaniard relegated Brandon McNulty and Aleksander Vlasov to second and third.
Valverde is the fastest sprinter uphill
The old hand can still do it. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) does not show any signs of fatigue even at the age of 41 and confidently puts off his much younger opponents on the following places. Yesterday, Friday, he had to admit defeat to Tim Wellens (Lotto – Soudal) at the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana. Today, however, he could not be beaten. The Trofeo Pollenca - Port d`Andratx finally went confidently to Alejandro Valverde, who was unstoppable on the final climb. Brandon McNulty (UAE), who won the Trofeo Calvia at the start of the Mallorca Challenge on Wednesday, had to settle for second place today. The podium is completed by Aleksander Vlasov (Bora – hansgrohe). The Austrian Felix Gall (AG2R – Citroen) and the German Simon Geschke (Cofidis) finished fifth and tenth respectively.
