Suter McNulty Mallorca Challenge Trophy Calvia

Cycling: Joel Suter almost caused a surprise at the start of the Mallorca Challenge. The Swiss only had to give way to his teammate Brandon McNulty at the Trofeo Calvia.

Suter wins the sprint of the pursuers

Our Brandon McNulty (UAE), a well-known professional has secured his first win at the Mallorca Challenge. The 23-year-old American confidently asserted himself on the 154,7-kilometre circuit between Peguera and Palmanova. Around 60 kilometers before the finish, he attacked on a small incline and was not taken seriously by the competition. The pursuit came too late on the final kilometers. So in the chasing group teammate Joel Sutter (UAE) rest and complete the double victory with a strong start. The Swiss made an almost perfect start to the season at the Trofeo Calvia.

Brandon McNulty:
"I'm super happy. A perfect start to the year. It was a really tough day. The fact that we also got second place thanks to Joel is great.”

Buchmann is ninth

The Italian drove in third place Vincenzo Albanese (Eolo – Komeata) before the Belgian Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal) and the Spaniard Alejandro Valverde (Movistar). The German team Bora – hansgrohe also presented themselves in good early form. Emmanuel Buchman and Ben Zwiehoff finished ninth and tenth.
