Product News / E-Performance: At Univega there is a lot of movement in the E-MTB sector in 2018. The focus here is particularly on the E-Fully Univega Renegade. In addition to two models with a Bosch drive and integrated 2018 battery, there are also variants with Shimano's E-8000 drive. In both cases you rely on a completely new framework.
The Univega Renegade as a long-travel E-Fully is nothing new in and of itself and is already an integral part of the product range this season in various equipment variants. For the coming season, however, they are really stepping on the gas and expanding the E-Renegades by two variants, each with a completely new frame. On the one hand there is the Renegade S with Shimano E-8000 drive and 500Wh battery. At the start you can choose between three equipment variants - the top model Renegade S 5.5 comes with a 160mm fork, 160mm in the rear triangle and complete Shimano XT equipment. The other equipment variants each have 140mm of travel. Incidentally, all three Shimano E-Fullys rely on thick Plus tires, come with a dropper post and a long-lasting 504Wh battery.
Of course, the established Bosch variants of the E-Fully from Univega also remain in the portfolio. The fact that there is also a completely new variant here is due to Bosch's new Powertube 500 battery, which can be integrated into the frame. First of all, with the variants 4.0 Plus Integrated and 3.0 Plus Integrated, there are two versions that fit into the program alongside the existing models with a battery on the down tube. Anyone who is not a friend of thick tires will find what they are looking for in the Renegade 4.0 and Renegade 3.0 models. A Performance CX motor ensures sufficient power in all Bosch Renegades – with the exception of the entry-level model (400Wh), there is also a long-lasting 500Wh battery.
The geometry remains the same for all Renegades with a Bosch drive, whether with an integrated battery or not. At 67°, the head angle tends to be a good bit steeper than that of the competition, and the chainstays are very long at 480mm. So you are more likely to be dealing with a powerful, smooth-running tourer with plenty of spring travel reserves than with an uncompromising racing machine. A similar direction is also taken with the new Shimano variant, whose steering angle is a bit steeper, but promises somewhat greater agility with shorter struts.
