Product news: Fuji BlackHill Evo – New E-MTB with integrated battery for 2018

July 18, 2017 by Michael Faiss

Market / E-Performance: With the Fuji BlackHill Evo, the US manufacturer recently presented a completely new E-MTB with Bosch drive, which will be available in stores in 2018. The PowerTube 500 battery is integrated in the down tube of the completely new fully frame. The BlackHill Evo will be available as a 29″ model with 120mm travel or as a powerful Plus model with 150mm.

Just last season, Fuji presented the BlackHill, a new, full-suspension E-MTB with a Bosch drive, 27,5″ tires and 140mm travel. Just a short time later - namely next year - the E-MTB portfolio was further expanded with the BlackHill Evo. The new BlackHill 'inherits' the rear end and the Bosch motor from its predecessor, but also has numerous new features up its sleeve. Of course, the most striking feature is the elegant battery integration: The new Bosch PowerTube 500 battery, which is located in the down tube, makes it possible. The energy supplier is removed from the top – it is secured by a screwed metal cover.

Fuji BlackHill Evo: Bosch Performance CX – 29″ or plus tires

All model variants - four in all - come with a Bosch Performance CX motor and the compact Purion display, which takes up less space on the handlebars and is better protected in the event of a fall. All models also have the new metric damper dimension in common. As already mentioned, the classic four-bar rear triangle has been retained. So you do without the in-house M-Link technology, which is used on the non-motorized MTBs: The somewhat better efficiency uphill plays a subordinate role on the E-MTB, but the classic rear triangle is lighter and cheaper to implement.

The Fuji BlackHill Evo will come onto the market in two versions: In addition to a tour-oriented model with 29″ wheels and 120mm travel, there will also be two versions with wide plus tires and 150mm travel. All models will be available from specialist retailers in the spring.
