Cycling: The German Mountain Championships will take place this year on August 26th in the Rhön. The organizer RC07 Fulda would like to celebrate its 110th anniversary with this event.
On August 26, 2017, the German Mountain Championships will be held in Elters near Hofbieber in the Rhön. The championship, which is part of the Lila Logistik Radbundesliga, is organized by RC07 Fulda. For the traditional club from the baroque city of Fulda, which is celebrating its 2017th anniversary in 110, these championships are an absolute highlight.
For the men and juniors U19, the German champions on the mountain will be determined on the 17-kilometer lap with 400 meters of altitude difference. The most prominent incline on the route through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön is the Milseburg, an approximately three-kilometer incline with an average incline of 7% and a maximum of 15%. The next two climbs are 2,5 and 10 kilometers long, but less steep. But not only the mountainous profile of the round, but also the wind typical of the Rhön should ensure challenging races. In addition, the BDR also uses the championships as a sighting race for the World Championships in Norway, which take place a month later. The juniors start at around 13 a.m., at XNUMX p.m. the men start the race.
Anyone and seniors can also start. Before the amateur title on the road is at stake in Nidda on Sunday, August 27th, the athletes on the route in the Rhön have the opportunity to crown themselves with the title of German Champion on the mountain. Start is at 8:30 a.m. The race day will be rounded off with the title fight for seniors 2 and 3 at 17 p.m.
