German championship: Politt & Kröger are the new time trial champions

Cycling: Nils Politt and Mieke Kröger secured the German championship jersey in Bad Dürrheim. While Politt was successful in the time trial for the first time, Kröger is celebrating for the second time after 2016. Moritz Kretschy and Antonia Niedermaier were successful in the U23 class.

Men: Politt WINS before Heidemann & Schachmann

After 38 minutes and 52 seconds, the time of Nils Politt (Bora – hansgrohe). With this best time, the current German champion in road racing also secures the jersey of the German time trial champion. On the 32,2-kilometer course in Bad Dürrheim, he was 11 and 15 seconds faster than Miguel Heideman (leopard) and Maximilian schachmann (Bora – hansgrohe). defending champion Lennard Kamna (Bora – hansgrohe) was dethroned 45 seconds behind. The new German champion in the road race will be determined on Sunday.



Women: The thriller goes to Mieke Kröger

The women's time trial was even closer. Mike Kroeger (Human Powered Health) finally got a second ahead with her time of 45:13 Catherine Fox (Maxx-Solar Rose Women Racing) prevail and thus take the title for the second time after 2016. Clara Koppenburg (Cofidis) completes the podium. The top favorite was last year's U23 champion Ricarda Bauerfeind (Canyon-SRAM). However, as she had to deal with knee problems, she only finished fifth with 49 seconds. The German champion will be determined in the street race this Saturday.

U23: Kretschy & Niedermaier cheer

Since the Federation of German Cyclists wanted to organize all time trials on the first day of the German Championships, the U23 men and the U23 women were also on the course yesterday. Moritz Kretschy (rad-net Osswald) was just three seconds ahead Tim Torn Teutenberg (Leopard) prevail. Antonia Niedermaier (Canyon – SRAM) made it less exciting. She triumphed with a lead of 2:16 minutes Linda Riedmann (Jumbo – Visma). Her winning time of 44:39 would have been enough for gold even in the elite women.
