With the Me Yaras, Vaude is primarily targeting recreational athletes who are looking for a rain jacket for everyday use and short laps on the bike. With an overall rather relaxed cut and hood, but also a longer back section, it is exactly the right choice for all those who are looking for an all-rounder for bad weather. Depending on your taste, the Vaude jacket should also cut a fine figure on a mountain bike, for example. The 2,5-layer material is quite light and the jacket folds up surprisingly small - not compact enough for a jersey pocket, but enough that it doesn't take up too much room in a backpack. The fit of the Me Yaras is really successful, the raised collar and hood protect even on windy days. The latter can be pulled over a helmet with a lot of persuasion, but this distorts the entire cut of the jacket - if you open the front zip a few centimeters, it fits better - but that's not a particularly good compromise, especially in heavy rain.
Two large zipped pockets on the front also offer more than enough space for all utensils in everyday life. There are ventilation openings under the arms that can be opened and closed with a zipper. This is always sufficient for shorter rides of up to 60 minutes and we did not have any unpleasant heat problems with the Me Yaras. Speaking of zips: the front zip is well sealed, even if it gives way quite quickly when hit by direct water. In practice, however, this rarely happens and the existing tightness should always be sufficient. In any case, the Vaude jacket was really convincing in the rain – only the cuffs should be properly clamped on the bike with the Velcro straps, otherwise water can easily get in here.

With the hood under the helmet - for me over a baseball cap - it fits very well (2021 Yaras 3-in-1 model).
