Clothing: Test: ROSE RR04 Rain Jacket

23 May 2017 by Michael Faiss

Cut: Daily life
Size: Turns out big
hood: yes, detachable

Price: € 134,95

The Rose RR04 is a rain jacket in the classic sense: With a rather wide cut and the stiff hardshell material, it appeals more to trekkers, weekend trippers and commuters than sporty cyclists. However, this should in no way be understood as a criticism; many are likely to be looking for just such a jacket, especially because it cuts a fine figure both on and off the bike. However, the high collar and the helmet-compatible and detachable hood, combined with the rather thick material, make the Rose jacket one of the warmest in the test. Generous ventilation openings with zips provide the much-needed supply of fresh air.

We think it's a bit of a shame that the Rose didn't have any reflective applications - although the neon yellow zips throw back a lot of light, they aren't as noticeable as classic reflectors, especially in poor visibility conditions. In the everyday and cycling test, the relatively inexpensive jacket surprised with its excellent weather resistance: Even heavy showers could not elicit more than a weary smile from the jacket.

The ROSE RR04 Rain Jacket rain jacket is the right choice for those who are primarily looking for an everyday jacket that should also keep you dry here and there on the bike. The very wide cut and the short sleeves are not ideal for use on the bike, but the long back keeps your behind dry. The detachable hood and the many pockets are very nice. We would have wished for one or two reflective elements on the back.
