The Scott Trail MTN Dryo 20 rain jacket is one of the few real hard shell jackets in our test. The firm material is not as comfortable and stretchy as that of some competitors, but it makes a much more robust impression. This should be a feature that many appreciate, especially in the intended area of application on the (hiking) trail. With the fit and the cut you walk a middle ground between everyday life and a bit of sportiness. The jacket offers more than enough space for another layer of clothing or protectors, the hood fits over a helmet with difficulty, but the front zip can then no longer be closed completely.
There are two ventilation openings under the arms that can be adjusted with a zip, and fresh air can also flow in through the two chest pockets on the front when they are open. So that, for example, the smartphone does not fall out of the open pocket while driving, an additional compartment with a zipper has been sewn in here - clever! The cuffs can be adjusted with Velcro and thus keep water out in most situations.
The Scott jacket does an excellent job in the rain: the three-layer DRYOsphere membrane really does remain completely waterproof in every situation: even on longer rides in the rain with a backpack, the straps of which constantly rubbed against the shoulders, the unpleasant wet didn't press through to the other side - although the Impregnation gave way in these places and the material itself became wet. The soft fleece on the inside of the raised collar is extremely comfortable when worn for long periods. Unfortunately, Scott was a bit sparing when it came to attaching reflective applications: In addition to the small Scott logo on the chest, only the flag on the hood adjuster on the back reflects a little light.
