Market: With the ZEMO brand, which was launched in 2011, ZEG has been extremely successful in the field of high-quality premium e-bikes for several years. The portfolio of the Cologne-based manufacturer was previously divided into the Comfort and Sport categories - from 2017 it will be expanded to include the Tour category. The ZEMO newcomers shine with powerful drives, noble equipment and great endurance - up to 1000Wh battery capacity is available to the drivers.
An end to the e-bike boom does not seem to be in sight in 2017 either - on the contrary: the numerous product announcements in the run-up to Eurobike in a few weeks show that bikes with motor support will also be the big trend topic in the industry next year. The focus is therefore all the more on manufacturers such as ZEMO, who have always been fully committed to the subject of e-bikes. ZEG's own brand has been around since 2011 and will be expanding its portfolio for the coming season with the new 'Tour' product range: This includes high-quality, sporty e-bikes for extensive tours on the road and forest paths, with a high level of comfort and high-torque drives and a great endurance should score.
Only drives from the e-bike pioneer Bosch work at the heart of the ZEMO Tour bikes. Depending on the sporty and demanding area of application, engines from the Performance and Performance CX Line are used. The two most powerful drives from the southern German manufacturer should offer more than enough power even on rough terrain and on steep, tough ascents. Batteries with 500Wh, which are completely integrated into the down tube for a nicer look and better protection against the weather, ensure staying power. The top model ZEMO ZE-11 1000 even comes with the new Bosch dual battery technology: The drive uses two batteries, each with 500Wh, which are connected to each other via a Y-cable. The ZE-11 1000 is one of the first e-bikes to be equipped with the new battery technology. If you are afraid of tangled cables on your bike with so much technology, you can rest easy: All lines, outer casings and cables run inside the aluminum frame.
However, ZEMO does not only rely on the latest technology for the new touring bikes when it comes to the drive. The top model ZE-14 not only uses a maintenance-free belt drive, but also a noble Rohloff circuit for a wide range, low weight and high switching comfort. The ZE-10 takes a different approach with its automatic hub from NuVinci, which even relieves the driver of the gear changes. Comfort is also a top priority for the other components: parallelogram seat posts meet ergonomic grips from Ergon and suspension forks with thru axles. Thanks to the rotating Speedlifter-Twist stem, the bikes can also be stowed away in the basement or garage to save space when not in use.
Not only the ample permissible system weight of 145kg gives a reassuring feeling, but also the five-year guarantee, which not only applies to the frame, but also to the motor, display, control and wiring.
Prices and detailed equipment lists should be expected at the Eurobike. The bikes will go on sale in early 2017.
