Market: Focus is starting the 2015 model season with a bang when it comes to racing bikes. The newly developed CAYO not only scores with its sensationally low weight, but is also available as a disc racer in addition to the caliper version. This is the first time that Focus is offering a racing bike with disc brakes.
During the new development of the CAYO, the engineers energetically made cutbacks. The result is a frame that has an amazingly low average weight of less than 900 grams across all frame sizes. In addition to low weight, the frame set focused on rigidity and comfort. The CAYO gives the driver leeway when choosing the gears: It can be converted to both mechanical and electronic gears.
The development of the disc frame required some special solutions. The wheelbase of the disc version is 7 mm longer than that of the caliper version. To ensure rigidity, the in-house Rapid Axle Technology (RAT) is used, which is also used on the Mares CX cross bike. The thru-axle combines perfect alignment of the wheel with low weight and very easy handling. In order to reduce heat generation when braking, the CAYO DISC can only be used with 160 mm brake discs.
The carbon racer is available in seven model variants at a price of 1599 euros to 3599 euros.
