The past few months have been kind to us cyclists. Rarely can one prepare for the season in the fresh air in winter as was the case this time. However, due to the sometimes spring-like temperatures, it was not always easy to find the right clothes. For example, it was too cool for leg warmers and too warm for pure winter trousers. Fittingly, Assos has LL.haBu Lady_s5 in program.

Equipment

The LL.haBu Lady_s5 is made from Assos' proprietary RXQ, a slightly stretchy, breathable material. The inside of the fabric panels sewn from it are fleeced. The pants feel so soft on the skin. But the special thing about it is that the material also has small air chambers, which effectively protect the legs from the wind. The warm climate is retained.

The carrier is also solved in an exciting way. Here, Assos only installs a flexible strap that divides in the area of the head and which can be adjusted in height using a plastic hook and three eyelets. This solution guarantees a quick putting on of the trousers. The cut of the wearer is chosen in such a way that it fits perfectly to the body, especially in a bent position. In addition, our test model has the proven S5 insert.

Practice

The LL.haBu Lady_s5 comes very well made. The seams that connect the individual fabric panels are neatly stitched and appear robust. The fabric panels themselves are cut in such a way that they fit snugly against the legs and do not slip when pedalling. Assos does a great job here. The ergonomic cut of the trousers gives pleasure every time. Only the leg parts could be a bit longer. Luckily, foot straps are attached here, which make it impossible for the pants to slide up. In contrast, the cut in the knee area is impressive. This is selected in such a way that hardly any creases form during use. An unpleasant rubbing of the pants in the hollows of the knees is thus effectively avoided.

At first glance, the head opening of the wearer seems a bit tight. Thanks to the extremely good elasticity of the strap, however, the impression changes quickly when you put it on for the first time. The cut in the chest area, which is relatively narrow, is also pleasant. The closure system can be operated intuitively, although the tapered tongue requires a bit of finesse. Thanks to the built-in mesh, the wearer easily wicks sweat away from the back.

Thermoregulation at temperatures in the single digits is impressive. Anyone who is normally used to wearing leg warmers under their winter pants will quickly start sweating here. The upholstery is just as positive. In this regard, the inventors from Lugano continue to deliver the ultimate.

Conclusion

Assos lives up to its reputation as an innovative manufacturer of functional cycling clothing with the LL.haBu Lady_s5 just. Every single detail of the pants appears well thought out. Although putting it on requires a little patience due to the tight fit and the sleek closure, the shines LL.haBu Lady_s5 on the bike. The purchase price of 229 euros is anything but cheap, but the pants are definitely worth it: a benchmark in the wardrobe that you will happily swear allegiance to for the coming winter.
