The revealing has been the spearhead of the road bike collection from the Austrian bike manufacturer KTM for some time now. The Revelator Master belongs next to that Revelator Prestige and the Revelator Prime to the top models of the series. If you look at the equipment and the geometry, the Mattighofener remain true to themselves this year.
Equipment
With the Revelator Master show that a well-equipped KTM does not always have to be orange. For example, the bike with blue accents has a tapered steering head and a relatively massive fork, the basis for precise steering manoeuvres. The bottom bracket area is similarly stiff and also has a press-fit bottom bracket. The chain stays, which are quite short at 405 millimeters, guarantee a powerful acceleration and quick changes in pace. But the lively character of the bike is not only reflected in these areas. If you take a look at the rest of the frame geometry, it becomes clear that the bike loves high speeds above all. The support struts, which are set quite low, ensure comfort.
The seating position is sporty, although we would have liked our test bike to be a bit smaller. This would certainly have been beneficial to the already full agility. And this is what it has Revelator Master without a doubt.
In use, the bike, which weighs almost seven kilograms, was up to date. The Dura Ace 9000 from Shimano is currently simply the reference in terms of mechanical rear derailleurs. Short lever travel, relatively little manual force and very high switching precision make every ride a pleasure. The fact that the brakes are no slouch, on the other hand, hardly needs to be mentioned. A nice detail regarding the mechanical groupset is that KTM has routed all cables internally. The Revelator Master gets a very tidy character.
The gear ratio on our test bike was chosen as you would expect from an all-round racer. Blades with a transmission ratio of 50 to 36 teeth were mounted on the crank. The cassette was varied from 11 to 28 teeth. Tours in the mountains are therefore not a problem, nor in the lowlands. If you still like it more classic, the reeds can be easily converted.
Mavics also leave a solid impression Ksyrium Elite S23. Here, KTM installed the silver variant, which not only suits the bike visually, but also fits well into the overall concept of the bike, which costs 3.699 euros. You can run races with it just as well as do training. Since Mavic delivers its wheelsets as a system, the cover with the Yksion Pro Griplink front and the Yksion Pro Powerlink in the back. In dry conditions you don't need to worry too much with this combination. However, if you also move the bike in the rain, it is advisable to retrofit it with other rubbers.
The otherwise harmonious picture is rounded off visually by the in-house handlebar-stem combination. However, the 44 centimeter wide, compact handlebars should not appeal to all riders. The handlebar tape wrapped in two colors is more for the eye and feel.
Conclusion
The Revelator Master is a bike for ambitious riders. It's a bike that you want to accelerate on the spot. During our test use, it largely showed itself from its best side, which can be attributed to the high-quality equipment in addition to the frame properties. The wheel simply invites you to mile eating and likes steep passages as well as fast city sign sprints. Only when choosing the size should you look a little and keep an eye on your individual needs.
