Test: That Quartz by BH only came onto the market last year, but for 2015 the Spanish bike manufacturer has used the experience with its top models G6 and Ultralight be guided and has relaunched the wheel in a revised form.

With the current model, the Spaniards have created a long-distance car that is also visually very appealing and contemporary.

equipment and practice

the bra Quartz is available in 3 configurations, with Shimano components Ultegra Di2, ultegra and 105. In addition, the variants Ultegra Di2 and ultegra also available on disc. I set out with the Shimano 105he's off for a test drive.

An FSA Compact crank was installed for the drive. With the BB386 EVO bottom bracket developed by BH and FSA, the Spaniards value innovation. In accordance with the bearing, the frame was designed oversized in the bottom bracket area. The result of this increase in surface area guarantees lateral rigidity, torsional rigidity at the crankset and greater stability in the rear frame area.

Accordingly, the driving experience is very controlled and the propulsion was clearly noticeable. To get on the Quartz In order to feel comfortable over longer distances, BH has incorporated some special features into the construction of the frame. The head tube is relatively high for improved overall rider positioning. This results in a strongly sloped shape, which leads to the already mentioned high stiffness.

Inspired by the G6series, the 1,5-inch head tube is tapered. The carbon fork was manufactured in such a way that the frame sits perfectly on the fork, which also results in high torsional rigidity there, which supports control over the bike.

The design of the frame is in no way inferior to its competition. The matt black and bright yellow finish follows the current trend towards neon colors.

Conclusion

With its just over 8 kilograms, the bra Quartz 105 not necessarily a lightweight among racing bikes. However, this is also due to the built-in switching group, so that some weight savings are still possible with other components. With this bike, the Spaniards have created a good compromise in terms of aerodynamics and stiffness, but the riding comfort has not suffered as a result.
