Cycling: In 2018, the Sixdays Bremen from January 11th to 16th will again be the scene for various sporting highlights, as well as shows and entertainment. The organizers have now announced the first commitments with the top German drivers Grasmann, Lamparter, Burkart and Enders. Velomotion also has a ticket competition for you.
At this year's Sixdays Bremen from January 11th to 16th, in addition to 24 professional drivers who compete for victory in the traditional two-man race, sprinters, women, U23 and U19 junior drivers and athletes with disabilities will compete against each other in numerous competitions. After last year's German Marcel Kalz and his partner Iljo Keisse stood at the top of the podium at the end of the 6 days of racing, it remains to be seen whether a German victory will be possible again in 2018. However, with the commitment of the top German drivers Leif Lampater, Achim Burkart and Christian Grasmann, a lot seems to be possible. Lamparter's record alone: twelve starts, eight podium places and two overall victories. Last year he and teammate Wim Stroetinga had to admit defeat. For the reigning Derny European Champion Achim Burkart, the coming Sixdays Bremen is about the first victory in a six-day race. The experienced Christian Grasmann, who had to give up his mission to defend the title last year due to illness, is always good for a surprise.
Great excitement is also expected in the sprinter competition, because the duel between René Ender and Tomáš Bábek is entering the next round. Last year, the German high-flyer Enders secured overall victory with a lead of one tire width. But he faces a big challenge against Bábek, because he proved at the track world championships with silver in the 1000 meter time trial and bronze in the keirin that he is a serious competitor. After the Sixdays Bremen, Enders will end his active career. There will also be Madison competitions for women for the first time. The sporting program is rounded off with various show acts and good entertainment, so that everyone in the ÖVB Arena really gets their money's worth.
