Sigma Sport iD.TRI: GPS triathlon watch tested

8 November 2022 by Florian Nowak

Test: With the Sigma iD.TRI, the German manufacturer of smart sports gadgets offers an innovative sports watch for everyday use, training and competitions. Both triathlon beginners and advanced users should benefit from the simple, intuitive operation as well as the smart functions and special accessories. Thanks to Bluetooth Smart, ANT+ and the USB interface, the iD.TRI can be connected to a smartphone, computer and external sensors. In addition, the iD.TRI is not only a reliable partner in triathlon, but also proves itself in everyday life thanks to activity tracking and sleep analysis.

Testing the Sigma iD.TRI

Sigma iD.TRI

With its silicone strap and relatively low weight of 42 grams, the Sigma iD.TRI is very comfortable on the wrist and is an ideal companion for sports and everyday life. Particularly interesting for triathletes: Due to its slim, light design, the sports watch fits under any wetsuit and is ideal for swimming thanks to 5 ATM water resistance. Without a lot of frills and with a specific focus on the most important functions, the multisport watch can be operated very intuitively using the four buttons and can be fully understood in just a few minutes.

Thanks to special algorithms, the sophisticated training system of the iD.TRI watch measures all discipline-specific values that are relevant for triathletes. The settings and training views of the sport profiles can be individually adjusted on the triathlon watch. Personal target zones and workouts can also be set up according to various parameters, which can be evaluated and analyzed with the Sigma Sport data world. In order to also receive intuitive training control during exercise, the smart light on the underside of the watch offers a green or red light informs you that you are below or above the previously defined maximum heart rate. In addition, the smart light also draws attention to incoming messages on the smartphone as soon as it is activated in the settings.

However, if you don't always want to wear the Sigma iD.TRI watch on your arm, you can also use the SnapOn Bike Mount. A smart handlebar mount that allows the multisport watch to be mounted quickly and easily on the handlebars, even in triathlon competitions, so you can keep an eye on all the important values when cycling. The track navigation, which can show and navigate any route from Komoot, was particularly convincing for us. These routes only have to be transmitted via the data center or the Sigma app, so that when navigating, the turn-by-turn directions are shown directly on the watch display, while the smartphone can stay in your pocket.
