Team Delko Starts Paris-Roubaix 2021 With 'LOOK 1985' Jersey: A piece of history for cycling fans

1 October 2021 by Andrew Waldera

Team Delko

Product news: 1985 – what a year! Commodore presented the Amiga home computer, Boris Becker was the first German tennis player to win the Grand Slam in Wimbledon and a milestone was also set in the bicycle sector. It was the year the world first saw LOOK clipless pedals. A piece of history that has significantly shaped cycling. At this year's edition of the traditional racing classic Paris-Roubaix, the Delko team is bringing a little nostalgia to the track. The squad will start with the "LOOK 1985" jersey in the iconic design.

Team Delko

The year 1985 was a milestone for LOOK and cycling. Not only was it the first time a World Tour team rode in LOOK colors, it was also the year the brand made a significant impact on cycling with its clipless pedals. The presentation of the new pedal could certainly not have been better back then. Bernard Hinault won both the 1985 Tour de France and Giro D'Italia wearing LOOK's Mondrian colors. Greg LeMond finished second in the Tour in his first appearance for the team.

The “LOOK 1985” jersey now pays homage to this great year. Team Delko wears the iconic jersey at the Paris-Roubaix 2021 race, which reflects the Mondrian-inspired LOOK logo with its red, yellow and blue color blocks within black lines. The jersey and the bib shorts of the Delko team were designed by LOOK. The design has been endorsed by both the team itself and the UCI and was made by Marcello Bergamo, the team's clothing partner.

“When we showed our young staff and drivers the jersey, their first reaction was that they wanted one themselves. It's a historic jersey that shaped my generation and the minds of cycling, worn by the likes of Bernard Hinault and Greg LeMond. We are very proud that LOOK allows us to wear its iconic colors at one of the most beautiful one-day races, Paris-Roubaix, and joins the ranks of the legendary teams and racers who have shaped the history of professional cycling 36 years later. The team looks forward to differentiating themselves as they tackle the challenges of the cobblestones.” – Philippe Lannes, Team Manager Team Delko

Anyone who would like to wear or own such a piece of cycling history can even do so. The LOOK jersey from 1985 will be available in a very limited edition. The price for the jersey is 89 euros, for the bib shorts you have to pay 99 euros.
