Test/Backpacks: With the new Attack 8 JR, Deuter is adding a TÜV/GS-certified protector backpack for adventurous children to its Attack model range. This means that even the wild youngsters feel well protected on demanding trails. The removable back protector, which returns to its original shape after deformation, together with the carrying system, offers optimal impact protection.
First and foremost, the Attack 8 JR with removable SAS-TEC back protector should offer maximum protection for small mountain bikers in the event of a fall. The materials in the carrying system are precisely matched to the SAS-TEC protector. Together, the highest possible level of protection should be achieved - this corresponds to the standard for motorcyclists.
Thanks to the new protector holder, the Attack 8 JR should have more storage space in the backpack. With two straps, mountain bike protectors can be attached to the outside of the lower part of the backpack in no time at all. But the full-face helmet also stays firmly and securely on the backpack thanks to the new bracket. With just one strap, the helmet can be quickly and easily attached to the outside of the backpack. In addition, thanks to the high hip fin attachment, the bike backpack should stay close and tight to your back even on rough descents.

Deuter Attack 8 JR in review:
The Attack 8 JR looks like a robust and compact trail backpack with small reflective strips so that you can still be seen in the dark or at dusk. The protector backpack is available in the color variants blue/orange and a somewhat more muted black.
As with the entire Attack series As usual, the Attack 8 JR also has a well-organized tool compartment for quick access to tools, pumps and spare parts. Directly above is a padded compartment for goggles and accessories. An easily accessible side pocket is integrated for smartphones, which can also be reached while being carried on the back. Helmet clips are attached to the outside of the backpack for both a half-shell helmet and a full-face helmet in order to stow the helmets securely and securely.
The main compartment offers enough space to stow everything you need for a day tour or a day in the bike park, such as food, spare clothing or a Go-Pro. In addition, a device for a 2-liter drinking system is built into the interior of the main compartment. Behind it is the zip for removing the back protector. As with most trail backpacks, there is an SOS label on the inside with emergency numbers, signals and first aid instructions.
The heart of the Attack 8 JR is the Multishock SAS Protector System. Although it is very robust and thus guarantees maximum safety, the backpack does not become too heavy for our little testers to carry. Especially in combination with the continuously adjustable chest strap and the pull-forward hip fins, it is comfortable to wear. It was positively noticed that Deuter has also attached straps and clips for attaching a drinking tube to both shoulder straps of the children's backpack and also attached a goggle holder to the left shoulder strap.
And finally ...
The bottom line is that the Deuter Attack 8 JR is a very well thought-out protector backpack for children from a height of 1,40 cm. Since riding ability is also a decisive factor in deciding whether the backpack is suitable for my child, we recommend the backpack for children who can safely ride a 24-inch MTB. This protector backpack is therefore ideal for sporty and adventurous children who like to be out and about on trails or in the bike park. But the Attack 8 JR is also the right protector backpack for smaller women with narrow backs and is an alternative that should not be underestimated.
Thanks to the SAS-TEC back protector and the robust materials, the Deuter Attack 8 JR 1010 g It is a bit heavier, but this is absolutely justified by the increase in safety and the many well thought-out features of the backpack. Also the price of 190 Euros is a bit higher than average, but this is justified by the longevity of the backpack, among other things. For all of the reasons mentioned so far, we have decided to upgrade the Deuter Attack 8 JR with the grade very well to evaluate and the backpack that Velomotion Seal of Approval to rent.
