Test / accessories: The Amplifi Track 17 is a high-quality trail backpack that is designed for day tours in rough terrain and with its super-light SAS-Tec back protector provides sufficient protection in the event of a fall.
The Allgäu company has set itself the goal of offering products by drivers for drivers and also seems to invest a lot of time in the design and comfort of their products. With the Track 17, they offer a solid product that inspired us in a few places.
Quick Facts Amplifi Track 17:

At first glance, the backpack provided to us seems quite simple. Our test model was delivered in the black version and we liked it very much. The only color accents on the Track 17 are the either white or orange logo and lettering on the back pad. In addition to the black version, the nylon bag is also available in a granite tone and in two 23L versions.
As with most trail backpacks, there is an option to attach a half-shell or full-face helmet on the front. The carrying system of the Amplifi Track 17 is modular and can be stowed in the bag at any time; simply connect the system to the attached hooks and adjust to the size of the helmet using the adjustable straps. We always find these modular systems very good, as firmly sewn carrying systems often prove to be a real dirt trap in bad weather.
Trail backpack with well thought-out storage space
Of course, a good trail backpack should not be without a compartment for tools and spare parts. Here, Amplifi offers an easily sortable compartment with many small pockets and storage space for tire and damper pumps. An emergency plan with phone numbers and signals is attached to the inside of the bag.
Between the tool and main compartment there is a padded glasses compartment that offers enough space for goggles and even a large reflex camera.
Sufficient accessories for a day trip can be stowed in the main compartment. We were able to stow rain jackets, water bladders and camera equipment on a spacious home trail lap without any problems and carry them comfortably with us. Which brings us directly to the next topic.
Wearing comfort and easy adjustment options
At first glance, the shoulder straps and the waistband of the Track 17 appear quite narrow and don't seem to be very comfortable to wear. However, when carrying the trail backpack, it quickly becomes clear that this is by no means the case.
The straps and waist belt have a perfect combination of fit and comfort that hugs the hips and shoulders and distributes the weight well. In addition, the centrally sewn belt with the Autocompression Hip System offers a perfect fit on the body and adapts to the shape of the back without leaving any leeway. The chest strap can be easily adjusted thanks to a kind of rail system. The loops attached to the hip belt allow excess straps to disappear - this gives you a tidy look without straps flapping around.
Small pockets are sewn on the sides of the hip belt, in which a multitool, lift tickets or keys can be stored.
The flexible back padding, which adapts to the shape, also contributes to the wearing comfort, but offers slightly lower ventilation properties on longer tours or in warmer temperatures.
Since we only tested backpacks with a back protector, the Track 17 should of course not be without one. The people from Oberstdorf rely on the light LB-L protector from the German company SAS-Tec, which only lets through a residual impact force of around 4KN in the event of a fall. If necessary, this can be removed from the back wall of the main compartment.
