The route highlights of the Tour Transalp 2021: New production with five new stations

13 November 2020 by Andrew Waldera

Everyone / Road Bike News: Next year, the Tour Transalp 2021 will take cycling enthusiasts across the Alps for the 18th time. At the upcoming event, not only the classics but also less well-regarded backdrops will be in the limelight. Five of the eight stations of the 2021 edition have never been reached by the Transalp.

The route of the Tour Transalp 2021 is set

Traditionally, the great Dolomite spectacle belongs to the eastern Transalp route. The staging of the landscape experience with Peitlerkofel, Kreuzkofel, Sassongher, Sella, Lagazuoi, Marmolada, Civetta and Pale di San Martino provides the famous goosebump feeling. But this time not only the world-famous passages should play a role, but also the lesser-known sections. The Tour Transalp 2021 is therefore like a new production: Five of the eight stations of the 2021 edition have never been visited as part of the Transalp. These include the road to Tesselberg above Bruneck, the enchanted road on Lago del Mis on the way to Monte Grappa, the climb from Primolano on the Brenta river between Bassano del Grappa and Valsugana. This leads up to the Asiago plateau and another new section over the Passo Vezzena to Lavarone. Also on the program is the equally remote and bizarre Passo San Boldo with its hairpin bends carved into the rock as a tunnel. This passage celebrated its premiere during the Transalp crossing in 2016. Also new is a two-day stop at Monte Grappa with the two destinations of Possagno and Asolo. The Tour Transalp starts on Sunday, June 20, 2021.
