BDR Breitensport starts the new season: The first bike tours of the year already this weekend

March 9, 2022 by Andrew Waldera

Popular sport / everyone: This weekend, the BDR popular sport will start the new season with attractive events. The program includes cycle tours in Schwalmtal, Warendorf-Freckenhorst, Neuwied and Zweibrücken, each with at least 3 route alternatives. The season opening will be rounded off by further events across Germany.

The first bike tours of the year traditionally start on the second weekend in March

Traditionally, the BDR amateur athletes always start the new season on the second weekend in March. However, the last two years have not been optimal due to the pandemic. This year, however, the signs are much better. The clubs and athletes have more or less come to terms with the Covid-19 situation - and last but not least, the restrictions on encounters at open-air events are no longer so restrictive. Of course, the conditions are still not easy. The events may only take place in compliance with the AHA rules, which have become familiar in the meantime, and with a good hygiene concept. So this weekend it's finally starting again!

The program includes attractive cycle tours in Schwalmtal, Warendorf-Freckenhorst, Neuwied and Zweibrücken, each with at least three route alternatives. If you are looking for more kilometers, you should head up north. In Schleswig-Holstein, a top-class brevet awaits the marathoners on Saturday. From Flensburg to Hamburg there is a tight 250 kilometers to cover. Brevet means that the route is available via GPS, meals and travel to and from the destination are at your own risk. The country tour riders can also look forward to the start of the season this weekend. Events in Dinslaken, Schwerin and Warendorf-Freckenhorst invite you to do this. Now all you have to do is pack your bike and off you go!
