Into the new season in style: Kettler Alu-Rad 2021, the e-bike innovations

10 October 2020 by the editorial office

E-Performance: "Made in Germany" is a top priority at Kettler Alu-Rad 2021 - the company in Saarland has been designing, constructing and assembling bicycles for more than 40 years. You can see that not only in the quality, but it is also reflected in the longevity of the bicycles and e-bikes. For the 2021 model year, the aluminum pioneers have once again worked hard and not only improved the model range, but also expanded it in the right places.

Velomotion presents selected 2021 models from Kettler Alu-Rad - very interesting e-bikes that will definitely attract attention in the coming season.

Kettler Alu-Rad 2021: The new e-mountain bike crossover E-Transhill CX12

E-mountain bike with low entry? The Kettler T-Transhill CX12 makes it possible!

The brand new Kettler E-Transhill CX12 is a bike that is probably very rare in this design. An e-bike for off-road use with a lot of suspension travel – as a step-through bike. Since the requirements for comfort and cushioning are constantly growing and unfamiliar terrain has to be discovered, the Kettler engineers have ventured into an innovative concept; the challenge was to create the stiffness required for a mountain bike despite the lack of a top tube. The result was the E-Transhill CX12. In addition to the step-through model designed as a unisex model, there is of course also a variant of the E-Transhill with a diamond frame.

The off-road step-through: just fun and comfortable.

Both frame shapes are equipped with the same components; These include the powerful Bosch Performance Line CX Gen4 with a 625 watt hour battery integrated in the down tube. This gives the e-mountain bike enough power to convince over hill and dale - on long climbs as well as on all-day tours. Hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano and the "Vee Rubber Crown" tires ensure good grip on different soil and weather conditions.

Frame shape: Step-through, diamond frame
Engine: Bosch Performance Line CX Generation 4, 250 watts, 85 Nm
Battery pack: Bosch PowerTube, 625Wh
Circuit: Shimano Deore 12-speed
brakes: Shimano hydraulic disc brake

Kettler Quadriga Duo CX10: To the end of the world

Quadriga Duo CX10: comfortable e-trekking bike with double the range

At first glance, the Kettler Quadriga Duo CX10 looks like a completely normal trekking bike without any special features. But upon closer inspection, one notices: The down tube is slightly wider than that of conventional e-bikes. The reason – as the name "Duo" suggests – is the two integrated Bosch PowerTube batteries. The power storage units are located on the left and right sides of the tube, allowing for optional 1.000 or even 1.250 watt-hour capacity is available – a truly unique selling point for the Kettler Alu-Rad 2021.

Hardly noticeable: the slightly wider down tube.

A stable frame lays the foundation for a permissible total weight of up to 150 kg and is therefore ideal for longer tours. The powerful fourth-generation Bosch Performance Line CX motor with Intuvia display is combined with Shimano's 10-speed derailleur gears, whose gears are perfectly matched to the drive. The 100 mm suspension fork in combination with 29 inch tires ensures a high level of comfort. A special, extra-wide 1,8-inch dimension was used for the head tube for even more safety and more stable handling. This makes steering and driving behavior much more pleasant and the frame even more stable.

Frame shape: step-through
Engine: Bosch Performance Line CX Generation 4, 250 watts, 85 Nm
Battery pack: 2x Bosch PowerTube, either 500 or 625 Wh each
Circuit: Shimano 10-speed
brakes: Shimano hydraulic disc brake

Kettler Alu-Rad 2021 Quadriga Duo CX12 FS: full suspension with two batteries

Discreetly noticeable.

Like all other duo models, the Kettler Quadriga Duo CX12 FS has two batteries installed in the down tube. This allows for optional 1.000 With a battery capacity of up to 1.250 Wh on board, you can easily explore even the most remote corners and uncharted trails. Yet this is an incredibly powerful full-suspension e-bike with ample downhill performance. Thanks to the RockShox suspension, even challenging terrain is no problem, especially since the suspension offers plenty of reserve. To maintain the necessary legroom on downhill rides, the 2021 Kettler Alu-Rad features a hydraulically lowering seat post, which can be lowered or raised using a trigger on the handlebars.

Root trails uphill? No problem!

Large-volume Schwalbe tires with plenty of grip and traction ensure that the high torque of the Bosch Performance CX can be brought to the trail in any situation. Suitability for everyday use and safety when the off-road tour lasts into the evening is provided by the innovative MonkeyLink technology: These are interfaces for LED lights that are connected to the drive battery and thus offer virtually unlimited lighting.

Battery pack: 2x Bosch PowerTube, either 500 Wh or 625 Wh each

Kettler Cargoline FS 800: The pack donkey

Kettler Alu-Rad has expanded its range of cargo e-bikes for 2021 and is thus picking up on the trend of swapping cars for e-bikes - after all, loads and children are increasingly being transported by bike over short and medium distances. Introducing the Cargoline FS 800 model: the transport bike comes with the powerful "Bosch Cargo Line Cruise" motor as standard, which is powered by a 625 Wh PowerTube (can be expanded to 1.250 Wh). With a permissible total weight of 250 kg, heavy loads can also be transported; In terms of volume, the Kettler is exemplary anyway, because great value was placed on modularity in the Cargoline model series. A metal box or a wood box can be installed, for example to safely transport children. The latter is available in different versions and can be used in a variety of ways.

The modern steering system of the Elian hub allows the front wheel swing arm to be built very compactly, which means that the loading area can be a little longer. The cargo bike is smooth-running, agile and always stable and safe. Both the swingarm and the rear triangle are spring-loaded, which ensures a high level of comfort; The lowerable seat post is very practical, especially in view of the different users. In addition, the handlebar can be easily adjusted in height and angle.

Also suitable for transporting children: the Woodbox.
The closed metal box transports everything dry home.
