Test: The Kettler Scarpia FS 2.0 is a fairly powerful, new E-MTB from the forge of the traditional German manufacturer. The strong equipment and the very good-natured driving behavior should appeal to a wide group of buyers and knew how to convince in the test.

New arrival at traditional manufacturer Kettler: With the Scarpia FS 2.0, a really powerful E-MTB is being sent into the season for the first time. 150mm travel, beefy Eddy Current tires and an aggressive look: That looks like a lot of off-road fun! So that the touring suitability is not neglected, Kettler gives the bike a long-range 750Wh battery, which supplies the Shimano E8000 motor from the down tube.
Successful ergonomics
What is immediately noticeable from the first step: The successful ergonomics of the Scarpia FS. On the one hand, the successful cockpit, where beginners and advanced users can find their way around, contributes to this. By using the minimalistic E7000 control unit for the drive, space is made for an ergonomic control lever for the dropper post. That's the way it has to be. The geometry of the frame is similar, modern but not extreme. You sit slightly stretched and sporty, but even long tours shouldn't be a problem at all. The good Fizik saddle, with which many riders should get along well, stands out positively.
This position also puts a lot of pressure on the pedals, which helps when climbing. Only the seat angle, which is a bit slack for our taste, and the resulting rear-heavy seating position is not quite optimal. In steep sections you have to shift your center of gravity significantly forward to prevent the front wheel from climbing. The Shimano motor delivers a solid performance and is primarily convincing in terms of sensitivity and dynamics - when it's really steep, it lacks a bit of power. On the Scarpia FS, however, that's not a big problem, because thanks to the SLX 12-speed gears you have several easy mountain gears on board.

Test: The Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC TM impresses on paper with almost too good equipment at a price of 5.000 euros. In practice, the Bosch CX bike keeps what the technical data promises and delivers great performance on the trail. However, its general orientation should appeal more to sporty downhill skiers […]
BMC Trailfox AMP SX two E-MTB on test: Comfortable trail bike with great chassis
Test: With a whopping 170mm of spring travel at the front, the SX variant of the well-known eMTB evergreen from BMC is well prepared for difficult terrain. The other equipment and the great chassis also match. However, you have to make sensitive compromises with the motor and the geometry may not really suit the full-throttle character of the Shimano E-MTB. BMC […]
Canyon Neuron:ON 9.0 E-MTB on test: Feel-good all-rounder with potential for off-road use
Test: The Canyon Neuron:ON 9.0 takes the place of the well-behaved touring full suspension bike in the Koblenz-based E-MTB lineup, but was able to prove in the test that it is an excellent versatile off-road all-rounder. Even on the descent, it was (almost) completely convincing thanks to its great chassis if you approach it a little more carefully. Canyon Neuron:ON […]
High sense of security on the trail
If the trail inclines towards the valley, the Kettler E-MTB can convince with its very good-natured, beginner-friendly handling. It is also not particularly agile due to its rather high weight, but it doesn't have to be that at all. Because of the central position on the bike, you don't have to be too active on the bike to keep control even when cornering - ideal for trail newcomers.
The chassis is comfortable, but offers little counter pressure for rough terrain. The built-in Eddy Current tires from Schwalbe are an absolute plus. The very heavy tires are somewhat at the expense of liveliness, but convey a great deal of safety off-road and iron out one or the other driving error with ease. The powerful Magura MT5 brakes, which are among the best you can get on an E-MTB in this segment, also contribute to this high level of safety. In any case, we like the entire equipment very much - with one single exception: the retractable seat post offers too little travel.
