Test: With one of the best current E-MTB drives, large battery and an attractive price, the Hercules Nos Pro FS 1.1 should be high on the wish list of many E-MTB fans. We are also quite taken with the 150mm fully, although you get more of a trail-ready touring bike than a sporty downhill specialist.

Modern e-mountain bikes are extremely versatile and can only rarely be clearly pigeonholed: trail bikes, enduro bikes, touring bikes – these boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred thanks to motor support and the latest geometries. This trend is also clearly evident in the Hercules Nos FS Pro 1.1, which has a real ace up its sleeve with the great drive-battery combination.
Again and again there are these bikes - sit on them, drive off, it fits! The Hercules Nos FS falls into exactly this category. The seating position and geometry are conservative in a positive sense. As well as modern, progressive dimensions and angles on mountain bikes work in certain areas, one crucial fact is often forgotten: Not every mountain biker wants to satisfy their inner Evil Knievel on daring trails. If you take it a bit more comfortably, a geometry like that of the Hercules Nos FS works excellently: Yes, it's not particularly manoeuvrable due to the slightly longer chainstays. In return, it masters steep climbs without much effort, even when sitting down. Yes, you can't push the high front into the berms at high speed. On the other hand, even as a non-professional, you can sit comfortably on an extended day tour and don't have to cure your aching back afterwards.

Strong equipment
For us, the Hercules is the epitome of an off-road all-rounder: The 150mm chassis with Lyrik fork at the front and Monarch damper at the rear strikes a good balance between comfort and counter-pressure, and invites you to crash it on a demanding trail permit. The Magura MT5 brakes decelerate powerfully and reliably. Unfortunately, the small 180mm discs offer few reserves for longer descents. With the Schwalbe Nobby Nic with a width of 2,6 inches at the front and rear, Hercules relies on one of the most popular MTB tires of all, which does well even on deep ground, although the reserves are not particularly large here either. A bit of a shame: the cheap performance rubber compound quickly reaches its limits in the wet. We would also have liked a dropper post with more travel for steeper passages.

Scott Strike eRide 910 E-MTB on test: Comfortable tourer with high suitability for everyday use
Test: The Scott Strike eRide is, so to speak, the touring counterpart to the sporty Genius eRide. However, it comes with almost as much spring travel and a geometry that has only been defused by add-on parts. With its high-quality frame and the TwinLoc system, it also has some of the great strengths of current Scott E-MTBs. Scott Strike eRide 910: The Facts Travel: […]

Test: The Trek Rail 7 is a lot of fun with a very high-quality and well-balanced frame. Clever battery integration, great geometry, convincing drive - the Americans really did everything right in this regard. The equipment is also largely convincing, although it somewhat limits the great potential of the frame. Trek Rail 7: The Facts Travel: 160mm/150mm Wheel size: 29 inch […]
Quiet and powerful engine
When gravity doesn't provide propulsion and you have to pedal yourself, the Nos FS can really shine. The suitably tuned Brose Drive S Mag motor has a lot of power, but remains natural even in the highest support level and, above all, is pleasantly quiet. In combination with the large battery in the down tube, day tours are also possible without having to constantly keep an eye on the charge level indicator. Speaking of the display: the display/operating unit combination is ergonomically successful and can be operated intuitively. Unfortunately, the monochrome display is difficult to read in direct sunlight, but this hardly detracts from the otherwise positive overall impression.
The other components are sensibly chosen and convince. Above all, the impeccable Shimano XT 12-speed gears know how to please. The ergonomically shaped handles take some getting used to, but they can be replaced quickly and cheaply if you don't like them.
