Product news: The Swiss bike manufacturer BMC presents real mountain bikes for the youngest offspring with the new Blast series. Equipped with a light aluminum frame, hydraulic disc brakes and child-friendly components, the bikes promise maximum riding fun and maximum safety. The Blast children's bikes are available in frame sizes of 20″ and 24″.
With two age-specific frame shapes and geometries, the new Blast children's bike series covers a wide range of ages and body sizes. The 20″ model is aimed at kids aged 5 to 8 years, the larger 24″ version appeals to older siblings from 6 to 11 years. The double butted 6061 T6 aluminum frame has a low step height for an uncomplicated and safe ascent and descent. The long wheelbase is intended to ensure high riding stability, while the open steering head angle helps the smaller wheels to overcome obstacles.
A wheel-size-specific rigid fork made of aluminum is used to match the frame. According to the manufacturer, the wear-resistant powder coating is extremely scratch-resistant and withstands everyday use better than a standard paint finish. The frame can be individually designed with the supplied blast sticker kit. Thanks to the special color coating of the frame, the stickers can be easily removed afterwards.
BMC Blast: Thin handlebars and tuned brake levers for a secure hold
The SDG Slater cockpit is designed to guarantee the young rider excellent ergonomics for a safe and comfortable ride. To ensure a secure hold, the engineers gave the Blast models a thin 19 mm handlebar and special safety grips. The adjustable Tektro brake levers of the hydraulic disc brakes have been tuned for a short reach. The adjustment of the saddle to the anatomy of young riders also enables an optimal seating position.
Large-volume 2,4" Kenda tires not only ensure proper grip off-road, but also increase driving comfort thanks to the high air volume. The high-quality chainstay protector minimizes background noise in rough passages and at the same time protects the frame from damage. The mountain bikes of the Blast series are completed by an 8-speed Sram derailleur system. The 20" and 24" models are each available in two color versions, the weight is said to be 8,6 kilograms and 9,6 kilograms respectively.
