E-Performance News: Topics such as artificial intelligence, smart homes and autonomous driving made the headlines at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week. With Bosch, however, a big player from the bicycle industry was also there and gave initial insights into future products - including a new Nyon on-board computer that should be available this year.
Exclusive taster of the new Nyon on-board computer
Networking and their own ecosystems have been trumps at least since the success of Apple. As early as 2014, Bosch launched the bike industry's first fully networked ecosystem including the eBikeConnect app and connected online portal with its all-in-one device "Nyon".
At the CES, the manufacturer is now presenting the new version of the all-rounder with an exclusive teaser video, which not only controls the e-bike, but is also a navigator and fitness trainer in one person. The device should be available from summer 2020. From the sparse impressions in the video, it can already be guessed that the new Nyon display will be based on the Kiox in terms of its form factor.
New displays are in focus
While there is only virtual material from the Nyon, Bosch is presenting the Kiox display, which was officially presented last year. The on-board computer is particularly tailored to the needs of sporty e-bikers. In addition to real-time monitoring of performance data such as heart rate and wattage, the device also offers the option of detailed data analysis after the tour in conjunction with the eBIkeConnect app.
Additional anti-theft protection is optionally available via the “Lock” premium function. Also interesting: Via the new Bosch SmartphoneHub, e-bikers can enjoy numerous practical features for a networked riding experience in combination with the COBI.Bike app. Including the obligatory interface to third-party services such as Strava and komoot as well as a navigation function.
