Market: The innovative and lightweight bicycle locks from the crowdfunded start-up Litelok are now being sold by Paul Lange & Co. The heart of the flexible locks is the patented Boaflexicore strap made of a high-strength steel and complex polymer compound, which is said to withstand even cable cutters, bolt cutters and hacksaws.
The idea for the innovative product came to founder Professor Neil Barron when his bicycles were repeatedly stolen. His goal was to develop a bicycle lock that not only reliably protects against theft, but is also light and easy to take with you. The lock was realized using a Boaflexicore strap, which is also based on a high-strength steel and complex polymer composite. The patented technology should have the high security standards of U-locks, but at the same time be light and flexible like a cable lock. The whole project was financed by crowdfunding, and the locks are manufactured in Great Britain. The locks were awarded the highest gold award in the security test by the independent testing institute Sold Secure. Last year, the Litelok Gold wearable lock, which can be worn on the body like a belt, also received the reddot design award. With the addition of the Litelok products to the portfolio, Paul Lange & Co. OHG is now expanding its range to include the flexible and innovative bicycle locks.
