Spectrum / E-Performance: E-mountain biking is becoming more and more popular! The best proof of this is probably the Bosch eMTB Challenge held last year. After the successful premiere at the Bike Festivals in Riva and Willingen, the Bosch eMTB Challenge 2018 is starting directly in five European countries.
The Bosch eMTB Challenge enters the second round. After the successful premiere last year, the new and attractive race format is really taking off in 2018. The "electrified" riders can look forward to the new racing concept in the e-mountain bike sector at five European locations. The focus of the Bosch eMTB Challenge 2018 is once again maximum fun. According to the organizer, the diverse routes will be easy for experienced hobby drivers to ride, but will also be challenging for professionals.
On average, the participants have to cover 35 kilometers with up to 1000 meters of altitude difference. Driving technique, fitness and orientation are required. So that the battery doesn't give up prematurely, the e-riders have to be lucky when it comes to battery management. Another challenge is likely to be that the stages are run for a limited time without prior training. It is important to find orientation points on the transfer routes between the individual stages. Missing a landmark will result in a 10 second time penalty.
A new feature for the second edition of the Bosch eMTB Challenge is the introduction of the "Explorer" class. This expands the two existing rating classes "Amateur" and "Advanced" with the possibility of taking part in the eMTB Challenge without a time rating. This means that all stages can be bypassed - in return, the participants can expect a plus in orientation points. The new rating class is aimed in particular at families and eMountain bike newcomers.
