Track cycling: Track cycling is all about it – in the truest sense of the word. Because right after the European Track Cycling Championships in Berlin, the Six Day series continues. The Sixdays in London started today. Last year's winners Moreno De Pauw and Kenny De Ketele are already back in the lead after Day 1. By the way, there are also well-known drivers from the road, such as Mark Cavendish or Peter Kennaugh.

Six Day Series 2017: 3 x 6 nights of world class racing
The Six Day series was launched by the British company Madison Sports Group (MSG) just last year. Last year, a number of teams took part in the event, which spanned several dates, cities and therefore months. The Amsterdam six-day race is no longer held, which is why there are now only three competitions before the grand finale. London will kick things off from October 24th to 29th, followed by the 107th Berlin Sixdays between January 25th and 30th and the competition in Copenhagen between February 1st and 6th. The grand finale will take place on April 14th in the Palma Arena on Mallorca.

De Pauw & De Ketele take the lead straight away
Last year, the Belgian duo consisting of Moreno De Pauw and Kenny De Ketele won the final. The two also triumphed at the Sixdays in London 2016 - and still lead after Day 1. The Germans Theo Reinhardt and Kersten Thiele are in sixth place. Ethan Mitchell was ahead in the sprinters today. Germany's newly crowned European champion Maximilian Levy is currently fourth. In the keirin final he was narrowly beaten by Britain's Matthew Rotherham. But there's no reason to be sad, because tomorrow it's going to continue straight away in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - and there's an opportunity for revenge.
