General: Eurobike 2017: Pirelli presents Cycl-e tires for e-bikes

September 8, 2017 by Andrew Waldera

Market / Eurobike 2017: Pirelli was also a protagonist at the Eurobike this year. The Italian tire manufacturer not only had its three new PZero Velo road bike tires in its luggage, but also the Cycl-e tire for e-bikes. The Cycl-e was developed for the new ST5 e-bike from Stromer.

Premiere of the e-bike tire Pirelli Cycl-e

Pirelli's appearance at Eurobike 2017 was awaited with great interest. The Italian tire manufacturer came to Friedrichshafen with four tire models and a new clothing collection. The PZero Velo tires were already presented in Milan in June, while the Italian tire manufacturer presented the Cycl-e as an absolute novelty at the Eurobike 2017. The new e-bike tire, which also marks Pirelli's debut in the e-bike sector, was developed for Stromer's new ST5 model. According to the manufacturer, the Pirelli Cycl-e should offer the e-biker maximum puncture protection, the best handling and the reliability of a motorcycle. The tire's patented profile is based on years of Italian experience in the motor sector.

Pirelli PZero Velo road bike tire series with three models

The Pirelli PZero Velo road bike tire series comes with three solutions for different requirements. All three models have a core made from the patented SmartNet Silicia compound. The rubber compound consists of more than 17 elements, with technologies from Formula 1 and World Superbike also being used. The most versatile tire in the series is the PZero Velo for competition and training on both dry and wet roads. As a four-season tire, Pirelli offers the PZero Velo 4S, which is said to impress with incredible grip and fluid handling even in extreme conditions and temperatures. Both the PZero Velo and the PZero Velo 4S are available in 23×622, 25×622 and 28×622 versions. In contrast, the PZero Velo TT in the dimension 23×622, the fastest and lightest tire in the PZero Velo series, has no profile at all.
