Product news: Equipped with an exclusive full carbon frame, huge battery and powerful Shimano EP8 motor, the new Canyon Torque:ON CF is set to become the new benchmark for long-range E-MTBs. One of the main goals in the development was the realization of an e-mountain bike that eats up altitude efficiently and quickly, but handles downhill like a thoroughbred freeride bike.
With the first generation of the Torque:ON AL, the Koblenz-based bike builders Canyon had already put a rather unusual gravity bike on wheels. In order to ensure playful handling for the rider despite the additional weight of the motor and battery, the choice fell on a smaller battery with a capacity of 504 Wh. For the new Torque:ON CF, the Canyon Gravity team started from scratch with the design of the frame and designed it for the 720 and 900 Wh batteries that are also used in the Spectral:ON CFR. This was made possible by switching to a full carbon frame, which weighs a remarkable 1,5 kilograms less than its predecessor.
According to Canyon, not only was the weight reduced, but the rigidity was also significantly increased. The new frame meets Canyon's highest category 5E test standard for downhill and freeride use. In addition to the strength and durability of the frame, the switch to carbon has enabled the Torque:ON CF's motocross-inspired design. The low damper position, the low bottom bracket and the low position of the motor ensure a very low center of gravity. This is to ensure great handling on technically demanding trails. Nice gimmick attached: The split top tube design created space for a 650 ml water bottle.
Long-range battery and powerful Shimano EP8 motor
Waiting in the bike park for the chairlift should be a thing of the past with the Canyon Torque:ON CF. In combination with the long-range battery, the powerful Shimano EP8 motor with up to 400% pedal assistance releases enough energy to conquer even the longest climbs. The 180 millimeter suspension fork and the 175 millimeter suspension travel at the rear also promise fun on demanding descents. The electrified freeride bike also relies on mullet wheels to promote high-speed stability and roll-over behavior as well as to provide additional agility and manoeuvrability.
The new Canyon Torque:ON CF is available in three model variants. The top of the range marks the Torque:ON CF Roczen, which was created in cooperation with motocross legend Ken Roczen. In addition to the special Roczen 94 paintwork, the Torque:ON CF Roczen is equipped with a high-end chassis consisting of a RockShox Zeb Ultimate suspension fork and the Superdeluxe C Ultimate steel spring damper, the wireless SRAM X01 AXS transmission and a RockShox AXS Reverb dropper post. The Torque:ON CF 8 relies on Shimano SLX and Fox Performance suspension, the Torque:ON CF 9 on Shimano XT and Fox Factory suspension. All bikes have the same carbon frame and drivetrain.
