Market: At the Eurobike Media Days we spotted what appeared to be a new bike at the Scott stand – optically somewhere between urban and endurance with a sleek and slim carbon frame and flat bar. A closer look revealed: Not a completely new model - the turquoise-blue speedster is the 2018 version of the well-known Scott Metrix, which we of course took a closer look at directly.
The Scott Metrix is already an old acquaintance in and of itself. The urban bike has been part of the Scott range for a number of years - we were all the more interested in examining the new Scott Metrix 10 at the Eurobike Media Days in South Tyrol, which will be launched in the coming season. Little has changed in the concept and opinions will still differ: the bike comes with a sporty, racy frame and solid equipment, but the stem does not have a classic racing handlebar, but a flat bar. New for 2018 is the carbon frame of the Metrix 10, whose coloring and lines are extremely successful.
Curved lines and almost organic shapes dominate, giving the bike a modern and sporty look. All lines and cables run inside - this also applies to the newly designed carbon fork. The rear triangle and fork also offer space for slightly wider tires – 32mm Conti tires were installed on the bike at the Media Days, but they still had plenty of room above and to the sides.
The Metrix is aimed at sporty riders who like to be fast on the bike but don't necessarily need a racing bike for that. The carbon racer also cuts a fine figure as a sporty commuter – even if there are unfortunately no eyelets for mudguards. The other equipment is solid and appropriate for the area of application; who would install a noble group ala Dura Ace on such a stylish, but somehow rather pragmatic bike? Instead, they rely on a 105 group from Shimano, combined with the appropriate flat bar levers and hydraulic disc brakes.
In addition to the Metrix 10, there will also be two other variants with an aluminum frame. Nothing is known about prices at the moment.
