Product news: With the Cannondale Treadwell, the traditional manufacturer presents a completely new bike for sporty everyday life. With a light aluminum frame, relaxed geometry and some interesting features, the Cannondale newcomer could cause a sensation this season.
US manufacturer Cannondale usually makes headlines when it comes to new product announcements, especially in the sporty area - even if you are also present in other areas, for example with the urban evergreen Bad Boy or various e-bikes for city and everyday use. This everyday portfolio at Cannondale is expanded today with the new Treadwell. A relatively inexpensive bike that is intended to appeal to younger generations in particular - Cannondale explicitly refers to the so-called millennials here. Stylish, practical, smart and affordable - these are the basic ingredients of the new Cannondale Treadwell.

Cannondale Treadwell: Only comfort is more important than style
So a bike for millennials – but what does that mean exactly? When designing the bike, Cannondale focused on two aspects in particular: style and comfort. A bike that fits into the lifestyle of the mid-20s to mid-30s generation. The result is a simple yet striking exterior. The shape of the aluminum frame stands out from the crowd with its low seat stays, but without daring to experiment too much. Also interesting is the decision to install the EQP variant with mudguards and luggage rack at the front and not at the rear. But looks aren't everything - on the contrary: Without the appropriate comfort, a bike like the Treadwell can look pretty, but it doesn't meet the demands of the target group.

To make the ride on the new Cannondale Urban Bike as comfortable as possible, the bike is designed exclusively for 650b wheels with wide, high-volume tires. With appropriately adjusted air pressure, the tires absorb any bumps and make a heavy suspension fork superfluous. When working out the geometry, the greatest possible comfort also played a decisive role; the result is the Easy-Ride Geometry. The frame is compact in order to put the driver in a sitting position that is not too stretched out. The handlebar, inspired by the classic BMX, not only contributes to the unique look, but also eliminates excessive saddle elevation and relieves the back. Thanks to the slack seat angle, you can also put your foot comfortably on the ground when you come to a stop - but without reaping the sluggish chopper feeling of many a cruiser bike.

Cannondale Treadwell: Smart bike for Generation Y
We live in a connected time. The ubiquitous smartphone now communicates with a large number of devices in the home, during sports or at work. So-called smart features have become indispensable in our everyday lives; Televisions, loudspeakers, coffee machines, yes, even sneakers or glasses can now communicate with mobile phones. Such features are no longer a rarity for bikes either, but until now they have mostly been limited to either the e-bike sector or the sporty area - in any case, smart features on a bike in the price range well under 1.000 euros have been a rarity so far. This could now change with the Treadwell.

There is a sensor on the front wheel hub, developed jointly with Garmin, which automatically transmits speed, distance and time to the Cannondale app, which is also new and free of charge. The journeys can then be displayed, saved and evaluated in the app. If desired, the smartphone can also remind you of maintenance intervals that are due and provide assistance if you want to lend a hand yourself. The smartphone can be easily attached to the new Intellimount stem and used in combination with the app as a bike computer. By the way: The sensor transmits via ANT+ and Bluetooth - so it should also get along with many other end devices or bike computers.
Cannondale Treadwell: models, prices and availability
In addition to a classic unisex bike with a high top tube, the Treadwell is also available as a trapeze version with a low step-through. In this country, the new Cannondale bike comes onto the market exclusively as a Treadwell EQ - with the permanently mounted aluminum mudguards and the mentioned front luggage rack. With a Shimano Altus 9-speed gear system and hydraulic disc brakes from Tektro, it will cost 899 euros.
